Our annual overnight spin took place in Leenane, Connemara on Saturday September 22nd. We returned to our venue of 2017, the Leenane Hotel, http://leenanehotel.com/, one of the oldest establishments in Connemara and famous for its views and seaweed baths.
The group of 18 departed from Galway at lunchtime on Saturday and pedalled the 65km direct route to Leenane via Maam Cross and Maam. A smaller group then added on another 40km around by Killary Harbour and Lough Fee in the Renvyle – Kylemore region, bringing the day’s route up to 105km.
Dinner and a visit to Hamiltons and Gaynors in the village helped the limbs to recover and on Sunday the group returned, clocking up another 80km.
Thanks to Cathal for the support vehicle It was great to have Gerry with us and his son Shane who cycled from Leenane to Galway on Sunday.
