WCW completed a 6 week Bike For Life Course February – March with 14 participants. Brian O Donnell and Liz Hastings led the course with help from John McDonald. The course is designed to help cyclists improve their skills and ride comfortably in group rides. Sessions took place on Saturday mornings. The first 2 sessions were based in NUIG car park where there is ample room for drills that develop the essential cycling skills. The following weeks the group took to the road and built up the mileage slowly but steadily over the weeks. The emphasis is on safety and comfort in group rides and individually on the road but the participants earned how to improve their fitness and efficiency on the bike.
We look forward to the trainees joining our main groups and to running further Bike for Life courses this year.
