WCW has launched a 6 week Bike For Life Course this February and 14 participants have enrolled. Brian O Donnell and Liz Hastings are leading the course which is designed to help cyclists improve their skills and ride comfortably in group rides. Sessions take place on Saturday mornings. The first 2 sessions are based in NUIG car park where there is ample room for drills that develop the essential cycling skills. The following weeks the group takes to the road and will build up the mileage slowly but steadily over the weeks. The emphasis is on safety and comfort in group rides and individually on the road but the participants will also learn how to improve their fitness and efficiency on the bike.
All members are welcome to join the group on the Saturday sessions. Even experienced cyclists will benefit from refresher training on the basics of cycling and the group appreciate the participation of club riders in the sessions.
